The American School
of Equine Dentistry promotes an integrated approach to equine health care.
Our students become an essential part of the equine health care team by promoting equine health and balance
from head to toe.
Proper dental maintenance is essential to allow peak performance and harmony between the horse and rider.
Thorough dental care can:
- prevent premature tooth loss and promote more complete utilization of feed,
- reduce the incidence of impaction and gas colic, alleviate tempormandibular joint pain,
- allow a less stressful eruption of the permanent teeth by the timely removal of shedding deciduous teeth (caps),
- prevent pain due to the use of a bit, making it easier for the horse to be trained, and to provide other benefits.
Why Do People Want To Attend The ASED?

| "II have seen first hand the problems that bad teeth can cause from weight to training. Most recently,
I purchased a cutting horse that had been bucking and throwing people. The previous owner had been in the emergency
room several times because of this. I had the horse vet checked and was informed of her double wolf teeth. I called
Scott Kohler, one of your graduates, he pulled the bad teeth, and floated her teeth. Now, even my four year old
son can ride her. Scott also did my 5 other horses and I can see a difference." - submitted

"Dr. Hyde - I have to tell you how pleased I was with your visit this past Tuesday. I was very impressed
by the thoroughness of your students, technicians and yourself. Your approach to handling my mare and gelding was
quite non-stressful for them and me. I wish I had known this was going to be such an enlightening event - I would
have had some of the 4-H kids out to observe. I know I tried to pay attention and learn something! I look forward
to having you and your crew out next year." ~ Donna McGraw, Ally and Eddie |
